I started wondering about travel and vaccinations this evening so I thought I would share what I found. Good news! We won't have to take anti-malarial meds :) We will, however, have to get yellow fever vaccinations before we travel and we will have to travel to North Platte to get them. Read it for yourself...
Drugs to Prevent Malaria (antimalarial drugs)
If you will be visiting a malaria risk area in Ethiopia, you will need to take one of the following antimalarial drugs: atovaquone/proquanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine (primaquine).
Note: Chloroquine is NOT an effective antimalarial drug in Ethiopia and should not be taken to prevent malaria in this region.Malaria risk area in Ethiopia: All areas at altitudes below 2,000m No risk in Addis Ababa.
