Please take time today to pray for Christians in Eritrea, just north of Ethiopia. I received an update from Voice of the Martyrs this morning that persecution is escalating there. I am reminded of the time Jesus asked his friends to pray with him as He himself prayed in preparation for enduring God's wrath for our sin on the cross. He was sorrowful, to the point of death and what did his disciples do? They fell asleep. I have been personally convicted as of late that when I see a need like this and forget/don't take time to pray (which is one of the best things we could ever do for the situation) I am essentially falling asleep...which is pretty offensive when you really think about it! Let us instead serve the body of Christ by praying for these brothers and sisters-in-Christ and their persecutors. It is not just a duty, but a priveledge to do so. Even if you are not a believer in Christ, please read this so that your worldview is not informed merely by our cushioned life in America where the simple act of not recycling can be deemed a moral outrage.
